One of the greatest cellists to have lived on this earth, Pablo Casals was not only a great musician, but a lover of life and all that makes it beautiful. He was a magnificent advocate for peace, even writing the UN anthem for world peace. I recommend reading his (out-of-print) "Joys and Sorrows". Even though Casals played for kings and queens, he was a simple man who loved the simple pleasures in life.
“To strip human nature until its divine attributes are made clear, to inform ordinary activities with spiritual fervor, to give wings of eternity to that which is most ephemeral; to make divine things human and human things divine; such is Bach, the G”
